Default used semen tank

I was offered to buy a used semen tank Cryenco Biostat Container, Model 350at a very reasonable price but im a little sceptical its an older stainless steel tank and last time it was used was 2001 but before that it was used and filled consistently and theirs no info on the date of manufacture
my question is their any problems that may occur with an older tank like that even if its been kept in good condition ?

We bought an older model tank several years ago that looked in good shape. Turned out that it wouldn't hold a charge more'n a day. You might want to get it checked before buying, unless you don't mind an expensive flower pot. Just my experience, tho.

Seems like a little more money would be a safer bet in storing straws, unless they are not that important. Which asks the question why store them in the first place. My 2 cents. Thanks.

I keep a few used tanks for my freeze branding biz, they work for me because I go through a lot of nitrogen and I'm not storing straws. I have one that will hold 30 days or more, one only a few weeks tops, and another that works for a doy or two max. There is no way to tell from the outside (that I know of) if the tank is still good or not, you just have to fill it and let it sit there to see how fast it evaporates the nitrogen... If you are storing straws, best to go with a new tank. Hate to see someone save a hundred bucks and end up losing a thousand.

Default semen tanks

I just got a new taylor wharton xt20 tank from bovine elite. Its a great tank, a little expensive but it will hold 540 straws for 20 weeks. I had a used tank I got and it stayed full for about 10 days.

I would have a hard time risking thousands in inventory to save a couple hundred on the tank. JMO
