Question Brahma Cows

I've heard a lot of ppl have had success breeding bucking bulls to pure brahman cows...has anyone on here tried it? what bloodlines did you cross them with, and how did the offspring turn out?

Brahma bulls take longer to develop. I would not put a full blooded brahma in my lines. Maybe half cross at the most. A quarter is safest bet. I know some will disagree. I just got rid of my half cross brahma's. If your small, it's just not as productive. Now if your running 50-100 head or more, than it would be a different scenario. Katich's are very sucussful with there Red Angus/Brahma cross. And you don't get a good price at the market for them!

thats correct, if the brahma cow bucks thats the only way to do it, just breed her to a tight made bull with some size

Katich is very successful breeding the brahma bull to those red angus cows.

I think it definelty does matter on the cow or bull that is Braham. We have a bull that is at least 3/4 braham and he bucks. But he it does seem like he is taking longer to develop then some of our others. My dad says he is pouring the feed into him( he feeds him by himself while the others get fed as a group here is a video i put together of him).

I figure since some ppl have had good success it is worth a try...idk it's an idea I have been pondering on. look at Oscar, he was a full blooded brangus...and Bodacious was a charbray...so if you found the right cow and crossed her just right, you may get a future hall of famer...or you may get squat. But hey thats all part of the game...

How are the calves looking? have you bucked any of the bulls out of them yet?

We have a full blood brahma that we AI'd to Roach Trap twice. Have 1 coming 2 bull and 1 weanling bull. So far the coming 2 has been just OK. Three trips last one was the best, kicked good with some action.
