When you buck your young bulls and you have one fall down, do you release the dummy? Or do you let them get up and keep bucking? Thanks.

It should be released, dont wanna cause anymore damage to babies.

If a bull falls down you want to reduce the chances that he may cause injury to himself so you would think that you should release the dummy.
A few years ago I had a bull that really blew out of the bucking chute but fell on his first trip. I released the dummy, he got up and I didn't think anything of it. Several months later we bucked him again and again he blew out hard and fell down. This became a pattern with the bull and I believe that he knew the dummy would be released if he layed down.
You do what you want, but I make them get up with the dummy on their backs. I am not teaching another one a bad habit.

i agree with dan, make them get up, and give them a chance to buck again then relase the dummy

Never thought about it like that, but it sure makes since.
What do you think about bucking one and the dummy will not release?

You are just training them for when a rider hangs up, or is afraid to get off
Some people tip the horns, tranqualize the bulls, break a jaw, knock a dew claw off, then buck the babies 2 days later!

im surprised more people hve not put a quick release like a bucking horse flank on their dummies to pull incase it does hang, i belive i could take a hooking from a baby if it meant saving him from possiably being ruined!
