I was wondering what guys that haul alot of bulls think about Aluminum stock trailers? We are in the market for a new trailer and are looking to buy in the US due to the high Canadian dollar and better prices. I was looking at a HEAVY Sundowner STOCK Trailer. Does anyone have any comments good or bad? Any other suggestions dealer locations would be appreciated.

I have a 2003 Featherlite 7x34 for sale, I think the Featherlite is the best alum. trailer for bulls

It rained the day before I took this pic.

Merrit makes a strong stand up stock trailer.

I am not sure about the Sundowner.. most of what I hear is not too good ("Brokedowner") as far as wiring and mechanical components. I like Wilson trailers but I would contact Dwayne Schellenberg, Curtis Sayer or Tanner Girlets on that one.

Hey... where is CAPTAIN TG anyways?!?!?!

I would go with a wilson. We have a 1992 wilson and hauled alot of bulls with very few problems. And never had any wiring issues.

Chris for a pot I would go with wilson to pull with a big truck or a featherlite or an Elite for a pickup.

If you are going with an Aluminum Gooseneck trailer I would suggest an Elite trailer, they have also been the ABBI sponsor for the last few years...they make a nice stout trailer...everyone that I know that owns one loves them.....Farrell's Trailers here in OKC is who I'd suggest to contact about them.

We have a 53ft. 102" Elite horse trailer. It's holding up very well. You can see a pic of it at my "My Space" pg. Link is in my signature.

I did a lot of research on aluminum trailers before buying the Elite. I was told that the reason you hear good things about a particular brand of trailer 1 yr. and bad the next is due to the aluminum. Heard that if the company gets a bad batch of aluminum the trailers won't be quite as good (and I've heard good and bad about all brands).

I'd make sure to get a solid sided trailer for rodeo cattle. I also like Wilson trailers but have had pots get damaged from an animal getting a horn out through the holes. Line the inside and you'll prevent some of the horn marks in your trailer.

Also look at the welds- Elite had longer welds than the other trailers I looked at. I've also heard that if you are hauling an aluminum trailer empty on long trips that it helps to drop a few pounds of air out of the tires to cut on the bounce down the road. Ours is air ride and we don't do that- not sure if it helps or not.

I've looked at a bunch of trailers and I think Merrit, Wilson or EBY are the stoutest trailers going. You can look at the EBY trailers at T-Down trailers.com.

I pull a 24ft Wilson that i purchased last year, and i have been very happy with it. I dont think ill ever use anything else, if i did it would have to be an Elite.
