What does a person get if they buy half interest in a bull?
At Ft. Woth, 00 Two Guns sold for $25,000 for half interest, what does the new owner get? Breeding, live cover fees?
At enid, 1/2 interest will be sold in 53 Last Call, what does the new owner get? half of futurity/classic money, breeding, semen sells?
Is it different in every agreement, or do you pay or get payed for every expense or income off the bull?

I think everybody's agreement is a little different. When we do classic and futurity bulls 1/2 interest....you buy half.....you pay all fees to events and we pay all feed/vet bills and all hauling expenses. We split any winnings 50/50. If we collect the bull...you pay for your half of the collecting, and get half the semen. We can use him on cows to breed if we need to and you may bring cows here to breed to him. I think that about covers it.
On strickly a breeding bull, I assume you would split each semen collection for the costs and the straws you get....then you agree on a per head number of cows to breed him to. If you took outside cows, you split the breeding fee you charge and whoever is pasturing the cows and bull gets the cow care.

Above is from Jennie's post. My question is:
Do the two co-owners each agree on how many cows can be bred and do each of the owners now get the exact same number of cows to bred or does the orginal owner get to use the bull on however many cows they wish?
Also is the new co-owner responsible for paying cow care when their cows are with the bull. If they have pasture and facilities to hold the bull do they get to take them to their place and use as well?
Just curious?

Drew,
In the front of the catalog for Gene Bakers sale, he includes the guidelines for the 1/2 intrest contracts. I've got a hard copy here with me, but cant remember offhand where to go to get the soft. His website, I guess. Its the Fall Classic III Rodeo Production Sale. Hope this helps.

We have never actually done just a partnership on a breeding bull.....we may in the near future.....This is what we kinda have worked out...we get the bull from say......April 1st to June 1st and the other party gets them after that. Now this only works if one party is willing to calve later...and that wont fly down south. Each party should agree to not run the bull with over say 20-25 cows at a time....so you dont have him overused for the other guy. Most of our partners dont have very many cows much less a bunch of land to run them on, so this has not come up with the classic/futurity bulls. If one party is running the other's cows, he should get reimbursed somehow for cow care. I would say each agreement needs to be completely decided before hand and in writing so there are no questions. God bless, Jen
