Entries are starting to come in. Just like every year, everyone waits until the last minute to send them in. I will get mine sent in tomorrow. We will have a good turn out.

Chester how many entries are there?

Why does everyone wait till the last minute? Until you put one of these on you don't know how stressful it is.

it doesn't matter if they were entered 2 weeks ago or on March 23 when entries close, gives a guy some time for the snow to melt or the mud to dry.

I entered 1.

Thats 8 still missing 3. With $5000 added and only $500 fees I sure would of thought people from Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Washington and Oregon would have been entering. Would have been a great chance to get qualified for Vegas with out traveling 1500 miles. Plus I am sure Chester has put a lot of work into this.

We and couple friends had 4 entered over here in SW Idaho. We are very very disapointed in the event being canceled. We needed to get our bull to as many as posible to try and get him qualified for Vegas. Now you have to travel to the Dakota's or Texas. With all the breeders in the NW this should have been an awesome event, being held during the PBR and at the Idaho Center.

thats 12 seems kinda weird they say that only 11 entered when we have 12 from 4 people on here. I wonder how many enteries they have for Stephenville?

Travis Eckroth
03-24-2009, 03:25 PM

ABBI called me before entries closed and told me 11 and that it was cancelled and wanted to get the 11 to enter for Stephenville as an option, I declined when I heard 125+ entries

I was really looking forward to the trip to ID.

Wow! Looks like the ABBI will be writing a lot of checks since they pay 1 hole for every 4 entered. That's 42 places they will pay out.

Something seem's funny. I entered 2. C-G entered 2, Phil Hoefer entered 2, Todd Erickson 2, Chester's mom 1, Eckroth 1, Jeff Widener 1, and i heard Faith Hadley entered as well. Seems weird.

change it to an open event and I bet youll get some entries. Pretty hard to go to an abbi event when the you cant hardly get a vet to mouth them before and now that they need a photo album along with it there aint a vet around that will touch one of these ignorant little suckers. They just keep running people off with every great idea.:banghead:

That does seem odd Jeff cause I know of 3 other entries from here. I heard through the grapevine that those never got recieved until Tuesday when they were mailed last Wednesday, can't imagine U.S. mail taking THAT long, so if your numbers are correct that would make 15 total???

I think it should be mandatory to fax in entry's and call in to check if it were received.
would have prevented this cancellation in Nampa.

Not sure it would have helped. I fax in 3 enteries. Called and confirmed they had them and still dont think they counted them.

I can't say one bad thing because I didn't enter anything.
But I will say this, it shows that we are going to be traveling boys if we want to play in the ABBI. I do want to say Thanks Chester for trying to get something started up here! You have went above and beyond. I think if we can't get the ABBI going up here, we need to get our own association /series going up here. I know there were guys entering stuff just pull it off. Thanks to the guys that entered as well! You really have to ask yourself why your doing this? :ar15::ar15:

I think the need to still have the event and let everyone in that tried to entered. It says on the abbi website that if an event doesnt fill up that you can enter untill the friday after closing.

I think we all need to band together and get the ABBI to help out us breeders in the northwest. We don't have any events over here at all. We are at a big disadvantage. There is a lot of good bulls in the northwest also. We pay a yearly membership to register our bulls and cows, and to be able to enter futurities then there isn't any in the northwest. Like the article in the bullpen magazine Katich's said they would play the futurity game if there was any over here.

I believe it is still cancelled. Just my opinion that they could and should still have the event. Seems like there are plenty of people wanting to enter bulls. Maybe cancelling before entries closed was a little premature.

I heard they are only paying 20......they should pay 40........the guys that place 20-40 arent going to be very happy:(

Back to the point of this post.......why was Nampa cancelled!!!! If it had the amount of entries everyone is saying.........is there a reason.........then they told everyone to enter Sville instead????? I am really confused.........

The 2009 rulebook I received says one hole MUST be paid for every 4 entered. I was told that it is only going to pay 20 holes and that the rulebook has been revised online.

Why have rules if we can't keep them for at least a season. Any rule change should be made after vegas and before the first event of the next year.

2009 ABBI Rule Book
G. If positions are available, late entries will be taken, until posted time of “late entries closing date” or typically the Friday, following the posted close date, with a penalty of $250. All penalty money collected will be added to the “EVENT” purse.
We received our phone call that Nampa was cancelled on Monday at 3pm MT.
Id is in same time zone as Co. Entries were not to close till 5pm MT.

Chester,
I will have #2 two year olds next year. I will committ to at least bringing one next year for sure even if they are both runners. Just to support the cause. Besides we want to watch the Nampa event next year. As far as not getting events up here, I don't know how much more central you can get than Idaho for an event for all of us. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you only need to place at one event to qualify for the finals??
Here is thought on this event getting cancelled. You all know I will say what is on my mind! Is there not a cow sale at the same time? If I had the facilities, I would let 178 two years old in if it meant selling cattle. Just a thought. :yikes: Might be hard to compete with next year as well. Might have to find another weekend???
