Recently i sent some blood in on a bull I had bred with. the results according to Abbi came back to the dam, but sire unknown. after that i know someone who sent in 10 blood cards and 9 came back to the sire and not the dam? now to try to run it again they are charging $10. this is sounding a little shady to me. like this person does not know who his cows that are already registered are. is this happening to anyone else?

We had two come back missing sire and/or dam that are both in the reg.

Thanks for the reply. We pulled these calves off the Dams when we bled them. I just do not see how the registry cant identify the right dams. Also the bull I am talking about, we put the cows in the trailer with the sire took them to a pasture with no other cattle around for miles, so I have a hard time believing that he is not the sire. It could just be bad luck i guess. I do not know what else we can do since the Abbi owns the only registry that I am aware of.

Had that happen with the 06 calves all of the calves out of one sire had no dam's. First call they said they didn't match anything. Then when I pointed out the second time that almost 90% of all the other calves came back with sire and dam, but every single calf out of the one bull had no dam's, and that I really doubted that one bull bred a every cow that we shipped before they were reg, since we don't let many cows leave here. They called back and for whatever reason the "system" did not put the dam's down, and all was corrected. Now my concern is with the new ten dollar rule, would we have to pay for this type of mistake? If so it would have cost 230 dollars for their mistake! On the other side I would hate to see a rule that said if it was their error you don't pay, cause I'm not convinced a person would ever get these small errors corrected in that instance!

I'm dealing with the same thing. I was e-mailed to pay $10 after several phone calls and no mention of it. My question is, Isn't there some facilities that can test DNA and confirm dams and sires if you send in all three bloodcards? I remember several folks saying there out there. They are not registries, just DNA research. I'm willing to pay to prove otherwise. I thought one might be in California.

There is one in California somewhere. Don Kish told me he used it a long time ago. Contact Travis Nash. He was researching some awhile back.
