Thanks everyone! I just got home from that wonderful ride from Vegas that we all love. Amazingly it never got below 18 degrees on the entire trip. I am very proud of Cochise!! Winning Bull of The Year in the CBR was exciting enough, but when I found out that Cochise won Bull of the Finals as well, I almost fell out of my chair! It was the biggest honor of my life for Cochise to be chosen. What makes everything even better is realizing the caliber of the competition that he has been up against all year, and for Cochise to win this title against these amazing bulls makes me even more proud than I already am.. It could have gone either way with the bulls that were up for Bull of the Year, and I would have been just as happy for any of the other guys.
Alvin Jones' Apollo is a wonderful animal that has bucked exceptionally all year and really fired during the finals. Alan Murphy's Full Throttle is another great bull that has bucked great every time and is just a taste of what the CBR Stock Contractor of the Year has to offer. Rich Bumbaca's Hasta Luego is just one of a trailer load of short round bulls that Rich and Lilly bring to the events. It is hard to pick my favorite bull from the Bumbaca's because they are all prime examples of what we all want on our trailer. Last but not least (not by any means) is Benny Cude's Shakedown. All I can say is WOW! He is such an amazing and athletic animal. Benny has got to be proud of that one. Every time I see that bull buck, all I can think is RANK!! Marty Fouch did a great job with the NBBA bulls as well. Those bucking lil' cats could compete with any bull in the world, and the NBBA is a great showcase for the future superstars of the CBR. For Cochise to be recognized as the best among this all-star line up says a lot.
I am thankful that Cochise was invited to the CBR. They made me feel like family. The CBR has treated me great since day one. Every contractor, bull rider and worker, from Terry Williams all the way down to the ticket takers, has a true sense of professionalism about them. When I showed up to my first event last year with one great bull, and I was treated the same as the guy with twenty great bulls, that says a lot.
Terry Williams, Tuff Hedeman, Wes Bruce, Benny Cude and the rest of the CBR Board have done a great job. I surely don't want to forget to thank wonderful people like Cicily Cross, Ray Clary or Robert Williamson for putting up with me. These 3 people really keep things together doing the "leg work" for the events and they do a darn good job!
I am excited for what the CBR has to offer in 2009. Watching several 90+ rides during the World Finals shows the true talent of the CBR bull riders, and one thing's for sure, the CBR bull power is there. Tuff has done a great job selecting livestock for the events. Thanks to everyone!!
