I know that people have asked before, but there wasn't really any response. Would you consider a cow a producer if she produces a bull like this:

He sold for $10K and is half brother (on the top) to Dogtown.
Or if a cow produces a bull like this:

Does a cow have to have a bull on a truck to be a producer? What's your opinion?
Thanks,
Arthur

Hey Arthur,
We've been building our foundation with quality genetics, that we like and consider "quality genetics", with past producing ancestors, sires, dams, siblings, offspring, etc....so here I go lol.....
That bull bucked like a rank sucker and would definitely look at his dam as a producer and then let me see what all you got out of her cause I liked what she produced in this bull.
If I was looking through bull stats and saw 011 I'd look at his sire/dam/siblings/offspring etc...I would consider his dam as being a producer.
I call alot of friends for help when we're looking to buy for their opinion, lol, so I can blame them if the bull don't buck or the cow doesn't produce, lol :yikes:
Honestly, I definitely like your bull in the video and would consider his dam a producer.
I reserve the right to claim this is JMO, :D not claiming it's right, JMO.....

Top Producing Cows, that's quite a bit different....it would be interesting to know the top 15 cows that have had the highest number of bulls/cows with the highest earnings. Got $$$ :banghead: on the mind this morning, trying to figure out how to get a bit more of it, lol.

In my opinion, a proven cow is considered that if she is the dam to at least one bull that bucks, a 19-23 pt bull for example. The bulls don't have to be PBR or NFR bulls, or ABBI champions, or have $50,000 in earnings.
There are lots of real good bucking bulls everywhere, in more than just the USA. Canada, Australia, Brazil, Mexico...
A cow IS NOT a producer if she flushes a ton of embryos each time, because if she hasn't produced a decent bucking bull she shouldn't even be flushed anyways, unless she is of the Rarest bloodline and her calves will be worth it.
who the heck cares if some cow produces a pile of embryos ?
the cow NEEDS to make bucking bulls.

In my opinion a proven producer is a cow that on a pretty regular basis produces bulls that work for what you are trying to do. If you are trying to produce faturity bulls or bulls to put on the truck to go to "the big show", or if you are just trying to raise bulls to go to open deals. So I think you have to look at it like anything else which are you trying to raise the bull for. a cow that may be considered a good producer for one may not be for the other.

In my opinion; our association and registy have a futurity and classic system, and with that system comes money earners. To me and producer, is a cow that has produced progeny that have earned money in one of those competitions.

Thanks for the input guys, I really appreciate it. The last few times people have asked this question no one would belly up and take a stab at it.
Thanks,
Arthur

Its a producer if your neighbors jersey bull gets in with her while in standing heat and the resulting calf bucks:rofl:
