Texas Longhorns got screwed in the BCS.

They beat the Sooners.

One more week and we'll see if the standings stay the same.

I guess Texas Tech got screwed too, 'cause they beat Texas.

Should Texas Tech go to a BCS bowl game over Texas since they beat them head to head?

It's a three way tie. You can't use head to head.

Use margin of victory in games between common opponents and you'll see that OU dominated. Use number of minutes with the lead during the games between the 3 schools and you'll see that OU dominated there too.

The computers are non-biased and they agree not only that OU is the best in the Big 12, but most computer rankings had them #1 overall.

I just think the BCS needs to go.

it doesn't work, especially this season.

TTech is very deserving of a BCS game, so is Penn State, USC .....

I agree. We need a 16 team playoff. Cut a game off the regular season if you have to. A 16 team playoff would only add 4 weeks to the season, and the only two teams to play 4 extra games would be the two that made the finals. High School kids play those extra games and no one is complaining about that. The lower level NCAA teams have a playoff.

I'd love to see a rematch of OU/Texas in the BCS Championship game. Unfortunately, Florida (who lost to Ole Miss), will likely get in with a win against 'Bama.

Im a die hard Mizzou fan, and i hate OU. but i have to say that the sooners are probably the best team in the big 12. the only team that may be better in the country is Florida.

as far as the playoff thing, i think a 16 team system would be best

the bcs stands for BIG CROCK of SH*T!!! it has never worked!! its just more visiable this year then most. some one in the bcs was gonna take in the back side... there was no way to decide other than the computer... i think mizzu should stay home and tu and OU should settle it on the field. why would a team with 3 or 4 losses get to play while two 1 loss teams stay home????

How does a team that gives up the kind of points they did against OSU even get to #2? If defense wins championships either FL or AL should beat OU or UT. It doesn't look like anybody in the Big 12 plays a whole lot of defense every week. Nobody has had a more consistent defense than Alabama. This year reminds me of the last time Bama won the national title. They weren't the flashiest or most fun to watch all year, but they sure played defense, ran the ball and didn't make many mistakes, and when the smoke cleared the team that was flashy and scored tons of points had gotten a world class butt whipping. And I hate Alabama.

Also, if we use the same reasoning as UT fans, I guess Arkansas should have played Ohio St last year?

i believe that if Texas would have, and should have, been in the Big 12 championship game, the Tigers very well could have beat them. I dont think it will be a blowout like everyone thinks. Mizzou could beat any team in the top 10 if they play like they did for most of the season.

that very well could be, my teams are always in the hunt in all sports and that is what i like about them. Missouri has become a tough team to play in football, and no one wants to play Duke in the march. I dont mind my teams not making the championship game every year. its always good to see new guys winning the big games. i just wish that some people saw it that way, but too bad that some dont have good sportsmanship.

Not sure what facts you're basing that on? Is it the super high powered offenses or the defenses that are about as tough as Vanderbilt's scout team? :dink: Please explain how a team that needed 7 touchdowns + to beat Oklahoma St. can possibly be the 2nd best in the country. Or how a team that lost to a Tech team that got crushed by OU and needed plenty of help to beat a Sunbelt team (AR ST.) early in the season should also be considered as top 3 material. Alabama is #1 because they have risen to every challenge all year, and as much as I dislike them, I expect them to continue to do so. And even if they lose to Florida on Saturday, who's to say that the BCS won't leave them in the game based on strength of schedule and common opponents? :beatdeadhorse:

The BCS doesn't work because it's set up for years in which there is a clear cut top 2 teams. With scholarship limits being what they are and more parity in the SEC and Big 12 and a weak PAC 10 and Big 10 it's set up to be a disaster from the start. Once again the BCS will end up with  regardless of what happens. Still, I would guess that most everyone replying to this thread will be watching the games anyway.

At least Barack Hussein Obama is going to fix this problem along with the economy, healthcare, national security, animal welfare and the price of rice in china :ack:

the only thing funnier is the REAL stats.
for all div 1 schools...........
Alabama is ranked 28th in offense (32.1pts/g)and 3rd in defense

Florida is ranked 3rd in offense (46.3pts/g) and 5th in defense
(12.3pt/g)
Oklahoma is ranked 1 in offense(53.3pts/g) and...
60th(24.8pts/g).... yes i said 60th in Defense....

So... i am assessing that the big 12 has absoloutely no DEFENSE at all!
Take a minute and mull it over... what happens when a lop sided team used to running up high scores against a team w/ no defense... runs into a defensively great program that can score as well?:speed_eek:

The BCS has never made any sense. Every year its full of controversy. I played ball for a few years at Bethel College in Newton Ks a couple years ago. We were part of the NAIA. When i was there, there was 92 teams in the NAIA. We had a playoff system, no problems. NCAA Division I-AA had 116 teams last i remeber, agian, playoff system, no problems. NCAA Division I-A has I think 119 teams, and we all know the problems they have with the BCS. I wish i could find it, but my freshman year at bethel someone did a lot of research and came up with a list of a who beat who and by how much kinda deal with over 150 teams on it and traced it back to us and figured that going by the BCS system that little ol Bethel College should have got a bid to a BCS bowl game. Being as how we werent even close to the size as even a NCAA Division II team that kinda told me that the BCS is total crap.

You SEC guys can keep throwing these stats out there all you want, but they mean nothing. The Big 12 has some of the best offenses and some of the best offensive players in the country. Any defense in America would have a hard time shutting these offenses down.

How did the mighty SEC do against the ACC this year? I believe they were 4-6. What does that mean? Decide for yourself.
We certainly found out that some of the perennial powers in the SEC (Georgia, LSU, and Auburn) weren't nearly as good as the media thought they'd be. Florida lost to Ole Miss at home. That's a worse loss than OU's loss to Texas, Texas' loss at Texas Tech, or any of the 3 OSU losses.

Top to bottom, no conference in America was tougher than the Big 12 - specifically the Big 12 South.

They actually faced the #2 ranked defense in yards allowed (TCU) who only gives up and avg of 215 yd/gm and rolled up 436 yds that game. TCU is also #2 in scoring defense allowing only 10.9 pt/gm. OU scored 35. That offense is tough.

I think you're underrating that OSU offense. Tough to beat the foursome of Robinson, Hunter, Bryant, and Pettigrew. As a whole, that might be the best group in America.

Also, Bradford is ranked #2 in pass efficiency, Colt McCoy #3, Zach Robinson (OSU) #4, and Tebow #5.

Bradford is #4 in total offense, McCoy #6, Robinson #20, and Tebow #39.

Hard to say that Bradford is the 2nd or 3rd best QB in the Big 12 or that Tebow is the best in the country. Looks to me that Bradford might be the best QB in the country instead.

'Cause there are 11 guys on the field, not just 4. :) If you look at the leaders in the individual categories, all 4 of those guys are near the top at their positions. I can't stand the Pokes, but they've got talent that no one hears much about.

Plus, that OU defense is pretty darn athletic. They give up some big plays, but they're talented. One of OSU's touchdowns came on a Kick off return.

According to the boys in Vegas, home field is only worth 3 points.

I think they will do well against the Sooners, but i dont have high hopes to win.

Exactly!!!

they won their division (or their half anyways) so rightfully they should play OU for the Whole Division championship.

Texas beat us, Tech beat Texas and we stomped the living daylights out of Tech. Hmmmmm.

Everybody hates OU, thanks to Switzer. That doesnt mean we shouldnt be in a Bowl game or #1.

Major conference champions including the WAC. After that fill with coaches pick or opinions on the BC board.

Boise State is undefeated and doesn't get into the BCS, oh thats right, they beat a big time team last time!

no didnt, couldnt afford college. Would of went to OU had I had the money and had been accepted. Why? Does it matter that fans didnt go to the school they cheer for? I was raised in the Oklahoma Panhandle. My parents moved there from Southeast Kansas in 1968, I was 3. I am an Okie and **** proud of it and I will cheer and love the University of Oklahoma Sooners til I die. In the good years and the bad years that we have had and may have again. My last boss asked me why I cheer for OU when I live in Tejas. I asked him why should I not cheer for them? Just because I live in Tejas means I should switch teams? his mother has lived in Tejas for over 60 years, moved from Oklahoma to Tejas and is still a fan. He just cannot figure out why. Oklahoma and football are sinonamious (lord my spelling sucks) as hotdogs and relish. Its almost a religion. We are hardcore, but unlike Jimmy, I do not root for OSU, I root for one team and that team only. I am probably the most hardcore OU fan you will ever see or find.

With all due respect Taxi, just what "MAJOR" team has Boise State beat in a magor BCS bowl??

Taxi

If my old memory serves me right it was an Oklahoma team(?). All the smart boys and the computers said BSU shouldn't even show up! My point is play the game and let the kids decide it, not the talking heads! The talking heads set up the NCAA Division 2 where Weber State and the U of Montana play this weekend, THEY"D HATE TO SEE 2 BIG SKY TEAMS PLAY FOR THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!!! :soapbox:

Are you telling me that the mighty ou car dealers, I mean sooners were beat by a division II team in a BCS bowl, has this ever happened before or since in a BCS bowl. Surely this was before small game stoops came along.

And Saddletramp is it always the refs or does ou ever just get their butts beat?

And ou is also synonymous with "probation, car dealers, drugs, guns, etc. well you get the picture.

:nana:
Boise state **** zero u that's tough.

:soapbox:A few years ago Montana State U gave OSU all it could handle on their home field, and the next year beat Colorado on their home field! And we(MSU) can't beat U of Montana on our field!!! Who'd App State beat on their home field last year????? All complete mismatches according to the computers!!!!!!

Sorry Taxi I should have said non bcs conference school or something. I was just wanting someone to say how zero u embarrassed our entire conference by getting their butts beat in a BCS bowl by a non BCS conference school in a major bowl.

Heck TCU had beat zero u in 2005 or 2006 in norman during the regular season.

Just having a little fun okies don't get all mad.
