I would like to get some feedback from everyone on this please.

Heres the scenario

You own a bull or Bullls, you have someone you pay to care for them at their place. That person takes your bull/Bulls and leases them out for breeding without your knowledge or permission.

Would a breeders certificate on these bulls protect the owner of the bulls or help when it came time for the calves that are a result of these bulls being used without the owners permssion, to be registered?

And suggestions of recourse of action? Thanks SR:)

Thanks for the replies... I bet this goes on more than we would like to think. By no means is it ethical or good for the industry! I was just wondering what kind of recourse a person would have in a situation like this, besides just putting a good ole fashion country whippin on the person:)

Hopefully this is the same guy who collected a bull in his care without authorization that you posted on awhile back and aint another one who would do something like that.I am with Scott I think there ort to be some kind of protection to the owners who intrust their bull to another individual for care to be hauled or whatever.

Nate and I have discussed whether or not to share this with everyone yet, and we've really had a hard time deciding because we won't be launching it until January 1, 2009, but we've decided to just make mention of our plan, so as to shed a sliver of light in situations like the one I'm replying to.

I can't say what, exactly, but there is, in the works, a company that will be launched January 1, 2009 (IF everything looks good and all of the kinks get worked out) to protect breeders and other individuals in the rodeo industry from dishonest people and from misdealings.

The company would be run completely separately from TBC, but I will be heading it up.

More details will be made available to you as soon as they are decided upon.

There are no guarantees, as everything needs to be legally sound, but we're really hoping and praying this works out.

Sounds interesting, Libby. I know there are crooks in all aspects of life. It is over whelms me as the numbers that we hear about in this breeding business.
Nealry makes me wish that I had just stayed with sale brn bulls and commercial cross breds. Thanks for You and Nate looking into this, HS

The Breeders Certificate would protect the owner. The calves could not be registered without "purchasing" a breeders certificate from the owner if the bull is in the program.

ya the breeders certificate would deff come in handy in this situation.

Steve, correct, but it would not keep crooks in line or someone that wanted the equilivant of a great sale born bull. In other words, no papers. HS

seems to me if your dealing with someone you don't know that well you need to have a contract so that if something is done without your permission then leagal action could be done, and specifics could be outlined and followed
